Shalom, My name is Jorge, I’m a descendant of Mizrahi Jews who became Sephardic when they arrived in “Sepharad” (Spain). My paternal Great-Grandfather Simeon Urbina (Ohr-Binah) and maternal Great-Greatgrandmother Matea Perez escaped the horrors of the “Inquisition” in Spain. The stories that I see in this web give the impression that is easy to return to Judaism. I have found that all the efforts from some individuals to return to Judaism are plagued with racism!!! The word “jew” and the seven movements which exist in Judaism today are stealing the identity of the descendants of Hebrew-Israelites. The people in “Palma de Mallorca” Spain were recognized as Jews ONLY because of suspicion they descended from Jews who escaped the “Inquisition” despite the fact they were practicing Catholicism and eating Pork! Their advantage was their European status despite the fact that Hebrew Israelites were black! The Latino Jewish diaspora is the largest and proven diaspora on the planet. However, when we approached a Synagogue the doors are slammed on our faces or conversion is suggested. Fortunately, an Orthodox Mexican Rabbi has given me the opportunity to return. An individual with strong Jewish roots and last names with Hebrew roots don’t need conversion . Baruch Hashem…Shalom!
Hello, I have reverted back to my ancestral faith. I belong to a Sephardic Modern Orthodox congregation. I was born in Chicago, my family is from Nuevo Leon, Mexico and what is now New Mexico/Colorado. I have taken various DNA tests, have tested several generations and have corresponded with Bennett Greenspan and the results are what my soul has known all along, I am a Jew and my soul is hopelessly and eternally Jewish. Today I live on Arizona. Kindest regards
Jorge Urbina Perez
