On February 26th, Congregation Shearith Israel along with Lovett Stories + Strategies, in association with American Sephardi Federation, will celebrate the development launch of Children of the Inquisition at Congregation Shearith Israel in New York. The event will include an introduction by Rabbi Shalom Morris, followed by a screening of selected scenes from the film-in-progress and a panel discussion with filmmaker Joseph Lovett and participants in the film.

The discussion will include filmmaker Joseph Lovett’s personal inspiration to make this film, the current phenomenon, where that phenomenon fits into the history of the Jewish people and opportunities to explore these interests through the web, books, films and travel. Also on the panel will be participants from the film Jose Barreiro, Anna Henriques and Carlos DeMedeiros.
Travel information on historically significant sites of the Diaspora will be on display for guests to explore. Sefardic artwork by Brazilian artist Carlos DeMedeiros will provide a showcase for people to see his unique experience. Historically inspired hors d’oeuvres will be served by Edible Histories; with an international menu of food that reflects the diverse geographical reaches of the diaspora.
